As representatives of the Greater EMC Chamber, Diplomats must be members in good standing, and they are expected to meet the following criteria to remain part of the Chamber Diplomat team. Commitment to these requirements will be renewed on an annual basis.

Diplomat Training Program:
New Diplomats are expected to complete the Diplomat training, which includes:

• Attend a Chamber 101 Session
• Agree to abide within Diplomat Guidelines

Diplomat Participation Expectations:
To remain part of the Diplomat team, Diplomats are expected to participate in the monthly Diplomat meeting, plus a minimum of 3 additional hours of Chamber functions each month. (4 hours total per month). Participation is tracked in Google Forms.

Diplomats of the Greater EMC Chamber are expected to represent the Chamber in a professional manner. This includes:

• Consistent and positive promotion of the Chamber.
• Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor while representing the Chamber at all programs and events. 
• Respect your commitment to the Chamber. This includes prompt attendance at Diplomat meetings and any events for which you have volunteered to work and being responsible to find a replacement for work assignments when you are unable to meet a commitment.
• Display a professional image of the Chamber by wearing a Diplomat name badge and appropriate attire at events.
• Display the highest standards in communication and responsiveness by promptly returning calls and e-mails to members, fellow Diplomats, and Chamber staff.
• Speak only for yourself when asked your opinion while serving as a Diplomat, and make it clear that it is your personal opinion and not that of the Chamber.
• Maintain neutrality regarding political candidates, and refrain from wearing campaign buttons or displaying campaign literature while serving as a Diplomat.
• Show a positive attitude toward the community, including supportive language toward other professional business networks and chambers.
• Maintain an appropriate and professional image online if you choose to promote the Chamber Diplomat program (and/or yourself as a Chamber Diplomat) on your personal social media platforms. 
• While it is permissible to elaborate on your business at a Ribbon Cutting, Diplomats should not use these events to promote their business or try to make a sale. Once the event has ended, it is appropriate to ask for a meeting only or gather their information to call on later. 

Chamber Diplomats are recognized throughout the year for their commitment and involvement in the Chamber’s mission, initiatives and events.

• Diplomat of the Quarter: A Diplomat will be recognized quarterly based on attendance and outstanding promotion of the Chamber. 
• Diplomat of the Year: A Diplomat will be recognized yearly based on attendance and exemplary promotion of the Chamber throughout the year. 
• Website Diplomat Directory: Each Diplomat will have a photo and contact information, if they allow, listed on the Chamber website.
